With over 40 options and the ability to customize, it is hard to choose just one favorite drink at Starbucks. Like many UHS students, choosing a flavor has become a part of our morning routines. For years, University students have enjoyed lattes, mochas, and sweet teas in order to kick start their mornings. We decided to do a little research to find out just what flavors UHS students enjoy most.
Sophomore Mackenzie Waugh likes to switch it up with an ice-cold Very Berry Hibiscus Refresher. The cost of the refresher ranges from $2.75 to $4.25, and it has a low calorie count, ranging from 60 to 100 calories (depending on the size). The Very Berry Hibiscus Refresher combines fresh blackberries with coffee extract to give the drinker a “refreshing” experience.
Another sophomore, Alex Simon, enjoys a Salted Carmel Mocha, one of the three featured fall flavors that Starbucks has to offer. This drink has a price range of $3.95-$4.95. Unlike the refresher, the mocha is high in calories; it contains 330 to 510 calories per drink.
In order to find out more about the beverage options, we took a field trip to the local Zionsville Starbucks. As dedicated journalists, we considered it our duty to try multiple beverages and the infamous Trenta size (31 oz) in order to provide the best information on what Starbucks has to offer.
To start off the research, Robin bought a Salted Carmel Mocha. This featured fall flavor was sweetened to perfection with chocolate and spiced with a hint of sea salt. Rachel also enjoyed a seemingly favorite fall flavor – the Chai Tea Latte. As soon as she tasted it, she felt the comfort of a warm drink on a cool fall day. The Chai Tea is sweetened with steamed milk and vanilla and spiced with a touch of cinnamon.
Starbucks has become a regular part of our community’s daily routines. Our hallways seem to be full of rushing students balancing their grande espressos. But not all the Starbucks flavors are for everyone, and that is where we need your help. Let us know what you order at Starbucks on our Twitter page @theupost. Don’t forget to try the last fall flavor, Pumpkin Spice Latte, and give us your feedback!
‘Til next month…!
