Congratulations to junior Marvin Scott, University High School tennis player and The U Post’s athlete of the week!
Marvin Scott was born to roam the courts, picking up tennis at an early age. He has been playing ever since. Scott played number 1 singles for the University High School Varsity tennis team during the fall. He was the only player from University who advanced to the second round of sectional play.
Scott was kind enough to answer a few questions about his experience on this year’s team. Here are the results:
How long have you been playing tennis?
I have been playing tennis for as long as I can remember. I started taking lessons when I was around four years old.
Why did you start playing?
My dad got me into tennis, and I ended up liking it a lot.
What has been your best memory from University Tennis?
My favorite memory would have to be winning the hot dog tournament last year. It was a ton of fun having such a close match and barely winning it. The feeling was amazing, and I will never forget it.
What other sports/activities are you associated with at University?
I play golf at University and I also recently started the Snowboarding Club.
Who is one of your favorite teachers?
One of my favorite teachers is Mr. Bradley because of his witty remarks and sense of style.
Favorite professional athlete and/or team?
My favorite professional athlete would have to be Gael Monfils, the French professional tennis player.
My favorite actor is Laurence Fishburne in The Matrix. I am also a huge Akeelah and the Bee fanatic.
Favorite vacation spot?
My favorite vacation spot is any place where I can snowboard.
What is your dream car?
My favorite car is the g-wiz.
What are your future plans (college etc.)?
I want to major in physics and math. However, I am not sure which college I will attend.
