Patrick Sanders, commonly referred to as “Paddy” or “Ronaldo Jr.,” is a senior midfielder for the University High School soccer team. He was co-captain of the team this year, leading them to an impressive season that surpassed all expectations. They succeeded largely due to Patrick’s contributions. He is a great soccer player and an even better person. Patrick truly represents the values that The U Post Athlete of the Week Award embodies.
How long have you been playing soccer?
I’ve been playing soccer for 12 years.
Why did you start playing?
My parents signed me up when I was younger, and I had a magic foot.
What has been your best memory from the University soccer team?
My favorite memory was my goal against Zionsville senior year. They are a very talented team, and my brother Daniel fed me a brilliant pass that I finessed into the back of the net. It was the first Sanders-to-Sanders goal, something I will always remember.
Who is your favorite professional athlete and/or team?
My favorite soccer player is Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on my favorite team Arsenal. I am also a die-hard Colts fan, and my favorite Colts are Reggie Wayne and Pat McAfee. My favorite player on University’s soccer team is Daniel Sanders.
What other sports/activities are you associated with at University?
I ran track my freshman and sophomore year. I am a proud member of the Volleyball Club, the greatest club University High School has ever seen.
Do you have any future plans? College, major, etc.
My favorite actor is a tie between James Roday and Tom Cruise. Both are incredibly handsome and charismatic individuals.
My favorite teacher is Dr. Robisch, because of his good-natured soul.
Favorite vacation spot?
My favorite vacation spot is Disney World, because I get to see Minnie Mouse, and it is the happiest place on Earth!
What is your dream car?
My dream car is a 2004 Ford Freestar minivan.
