Athlete of the Week: Noah Matthews

Noah Matthews has been a key component in the Blazers’ recent “Cinderella Story” tournament run. He has had several crucial performances on the way to the Blazers’ first regional championship in the school’s history. Noah has been a steady performer who has helped the undersized Blazers overcome their height deficiency. He was also a starting defender for the varsity soccer team as they had a very successful year. Noah is a well-renowned member of the student body with a thirst for knowledge, and most importantly, a winning smile.

How long have you been playing basketball?
I have been playing basketball since fourth grade.

Why did you start playing?
The main reason I started playing was to meet women and get a reputation of being a “bad boy.”

What has been your best memory from University basketball?
My favorite memory of University basketball was recently winning regionals. The team has worked really hard for this all season and to have finally accomplished it feels great, but we are far from done.

Who is your favorite professional athlete and/or team?
My favorite athlete is Lisa Leslie, three-time WNBA MVP and four-time Olympic gold medal winner for Team USA, and my favorite NBA team is the Indiana Pacers.

What other sports/activities are you associated with at University?
I play varsity soccer for University and am also a stewardship representative for the junior class.

Favorite subject?
My favorite subject in school is pre-algebra.  You just simply cannot have too many polynomial equations, that is for sure!

Future plans? College, major, etc.
I am not entirely sure what I want to study, but one of my main options is to study nuclear physics at the University of Oxford.

Dream Car?
My dream car is a 2004 Toyota Prius.

Favorite pump-up song?
My favorite pump up song is “Chariots of Fire.”


My favorite sibling is my brother, because he is a great listener.  I also have a sister who goes to University and she is a close second place.
