Athlete of the Week: Ben Klemsz

Ben Klemsz is a sophomore here at University. In this spring season of Athletics, Ben plays Varsity Baseball. In the fall he plays soccer, and year round he is one of the Student Athletic Trainers. Ben is not the only Klemsz at University. His brother, Nick, was a graduate of the 2013 class. His older sister Ellie is a senior and one of his younger sisters, Maggie, is a freshman. Ben also has two younger sisters that attend Sycamore School. Ben was able to take time out of his busy schedule and get onto Facebook to answer some questions.

1. How long have you been playing baseball?
I’ve been playing baseball since I was 4 or 5 years old.

2. Why do you like playing baseball?
I just like the feeling that comes with a good play or a good hit and baseball has always been fun for me.

3. Who got you started to play baseball?
My dad

4. Favorite baseball memory?
Winning my little league championship when I was twelve even though during the regular season my team wasn’t the best.

5. Favorite position?
Catcher

6. Favorite baseball team and player
My favorite team is the St. Louis Cardinals and my favorite player is Yadier Molina (Catcher for the Cardinals)

7. Favorite pre-game snack?
I like to enjoy a nice Chick-fil-A sandwich with some chocolate chip cookies and maybe a granola bar or two if I’m feeling good

8. Favorite pump up song?
Right now it’s “Money and the Power” by Kid Ink or “We Dem Boyz” by Wiz Khalifa.
