Heritage Christian August 19
Varsity – The first game of the season was a hard-fought battle. The teams were deadlocked at 0 at the end of the first half. The team fell behind early in the second half 1-0, but bounced back and tied it up off of a Patrick Naremore header (assisted by Danny Sanders). However, Heritage scored a late goal off a muffed ball to take a lead the Blazers could not regain, falling 2-1.
Lutheran August 23rd
Varsity – The Varsity team took on Lutheran on a Saturday morning. While it was an early start, the team was ready to go. The team put up three goals, including a beautiful strike by Jake Tanner, to win the game 3-0.
Bethesda August 26th
Varsity – The team traveled to Bethesda and came back victorious on the 26th. A huge offensive game for the Blazers translated into 7 goals from multiple players. The Blazers shut out and stunned the opposition in their home-opener.
Park Tudor Sept. 2
Varsity – Park Tudor scored in the first half off a hectic play. The team had several opportunities to score but couldn’t put the ball in. A strong second half effort was not enough to come back, falling 1-0.
JV – After a neck and neck first half, Park Tudor scored with two minutes to go. Both teams had plenty of chances and close shots, but the final score showed 1-0 Park Tudor.
Indy Met Sept. 4
Varsity – Varsity defeated Indy Metropolitan 11-0. After scoring in the first thirty seconds, the team never looked back. This was a one-sided game in which many players were able to contribute.
Hamilton Heights Sept. 6
JV – The UHS JV soccer team defeated Hamilton Heights 1-0 off a corner kick scored by British wonder kid AD, assisted by sophomore Alex Bandick.
Bishop Chatard Sept. 9
Varsity – A close first half resulted in a 0-0 draw. Quickly after the start of the second half, a silly foul led to a Chatard penalty kick. However, goalkeeper Zach Duncan made a great save to stop the shot. Sophomore Patrick Naremore put in a goal shortly after on a great shot assisted by Graham Turner. Chatard was able to answer getting a goal of their own off of a nice cross into the box. In the last 30 seconds of the game, sophomore Samuel Rudd drew a foul which led to a free kick. With 8 seconds to go, Jake Tanner played a ball into the box which freshman Ryan Williams put into the goal for the go ahead score. The Blazers were victorious 2-1 in a thriller.
JV – Junior Varsity played a great game and tied Chatard 0-0.
Anderson Prep Sept. 11
JV – Junior Varsity fought hard but fell to Anderson Prep 1-0.
