Fashion 411: Colors of the Season

Fashion 411: Colors of the Season

By Lori Bowes

This week, I’m talking about the latest colors for the fall/winter season. As colder weather approaches and we begin to start bundling up in heavier clothing, the colors tend to shift to darker shades. Here’s the top colors to watch out for this season:

  1. Deep Sapphire:

For this look, this nice deep blue is going to look sleek and put-together anyway you where it. I went with a bag and a pair of flats in the color to let the accessories be the statement of the outfit, keeping a neutral nude color and a black moto jacket as the background pieces to tie it all together.

  1. Mustard

Because this color is so bright, it’s best to keep it with only one clothing item. For this outfit, I chose to have the mustard sweater the centerpiece, and kept everything else black to make the color pop.

  1. Marsala

The marsala red color is one that continues to return every fall and winter season, because of its rich color and its reminiscence of the autumn colors. For this look, the maroon/marsala red skirt is the main item, with black and brown accents to tie the outfit together.

  1. Dusty Rose

It’s easy to get stuck in the girly, pink look with this color, but add a pair of ripped jeans and a tan coat, and it instantly upgrades to a sophisticated and sleek look. Pair it with tan flats and a rose watch and you’re out the door.Screen Shot 2015-11-10 at 5.36.58 PM

  1. Olive

Olive green is a color that is usually associated with fall and winter. Trench coats and army jackets are super popular in the colder seasons. With this look, keeping a streamlined silhouette with the motorcycle-styled jacket provides a bit of warmth, but not looking so bulky. I paired it with a black dress, scarf and combat boots. Throw on a pair of black tights for a little more warmth.

  1. Satin Teal

For this last look, I wanted to make it a bit more casual, and a little warmer for when it gets closer to winter and lower temperatures. With a beautiful teal knit sweater, some ripped jeans and a pair of converse, the outfit is casual but still put together. The coat adds extra warm for chilly days outside.
